This day had to be the most beautiful day of our entire week in Lago Atitlan. We split our trip into two while here. We stayed half the time in an Airbnb and the other half at Hotel Atitlan.
Hotel Atitlan is known for its lush gardens, but my favorite part was the dock and heli pad. They offer such unobstructed views of the volcanoes and the lake breeze is just perfect for those hot, sunny days.
Now, I didn’t pack much clothes-only the most versatile pieces that I know I would want to wear over and over for three weeks-and my Realisation dresses of course made the cut. Ever since I discovered this brand, I have been mildly ridiculously obsessed with them. I ordered a few pieces from their collection. And I knew that these pieces would pack a big punch while still being lighweight enough to cram into my luggage.
While I love their wrap dresses (I have the Alexandra, the Teale, and the Valentina) I am OBSESSED with the Ozzie. It fits so well on my body type (petite, small chested, wide hips) and I’m not on the verge of flashing the onlookers like I am with their wrap dresses. I brought the Ozzie with me to the DR and it had to come with me to Guate too, along with anywhere else I travel to!

When I first planned this trip, I knew my wardrobe (and accessories) needed to reflect the vibrancy of colors and textures that are so prevalent in Guatemala. And I knew that my dainty gold jewels were not going to cut it. That’s when I reached out to my friend, Emma! She makes the MOST gorgeous rings in the prettiest of colors and shapes. I sent her over some inspo photos of Guatemala and she got right to work creating these pieces for me.

Alex and I spent the last three weeks exploring my beautiful country of Guatemala. For those who may not know, I was born there and moved to the States when I was six years old. I still visited my grandparents every summer until their passing. The last time I traveled to Guate was when I was 18, and it was definitely time to go back! I had so much fun showing Alex around a few of the best places in the country.
This was in Lago Atitlan, the deepest lake in Central America. This lake is surrounded by three volcanoes and is seriously breathtaking! There is NO WAY these photos do it any justice. We LOVED it here and did not want to go back to the city.
While we enjoyed all of the beautiful touristy places in Guatemala, we didn’t only go for vacation. We traveled there on a personal mission that has been in our hearts for quite some time. More on that in future posts! So, keep reading in the next few weeks to see more of our trip and to find out the real reason we traveled to Guatemala.
