Isn’t it great when social media connects you to wonderful people you probably would have never met otherwise?
This was the case with Katie and I. We connected through Instagram and it’s been so fun meeting up and getting to know her. Katie runs the blog Style Wonk and has the most glam-cool style!
We met up at The Yards DC early Saturday morning to grab coffee, catch up, and have a fun photo shoot at this amazing art installation called Bridge from artist Glenn Kaino. (You can read more about this project HERE) The space is so breathtaking and it’s such a little gem in the middle of the bustle of the city. We were there quite early so we mostly had the whole building to ourselves and it was the perfect light to capture some images.
Katie is such a trooper when in comes to the cold weather! She only wore a tee and an incredible vintage coat! I, on the other hand, love my warmth layers. I kept my outfit pretty neutral because I wanted the outerwear to be the focus. This red coat is fabulous and it’s the perfect length to offer the best amount of warmth. I threw on this scarf as an afterthought because I never leave home without a scarf in the winter,-beware: there will be an abundance of scarves in the posts to follow– but, it works so well with the coat that I decided to keep it on for the shoot.
Let’s be honest, this baby wasn’t coming off even if it didn’t work with the coat 😉
Make sure you check out this installation before it’s gone. The last day for it is December 6, so carve out some time & head out to The Yards before then. You will not be disappointed!
Don’t forget to check out Katie’s site Style Wonk to see details of her outfit. And make sure to follow her on Instagram to see a glimpse of her everyday life!
